Phantoms to hit local airwaves and the world

(PHILADELPHIA — Sept. 16, 2005) SPORTSRADIO 610 WIP and the Philadelphia Phantoms will make history on Saturday October 8, 2005 at 7:05 pm. That date will mark the first time in the history of the Phantoms franchise that their hockey games will be broadcast on the radio. WIP will continue to satisfy Philadelphia's voracious appetite for hockey throughout the season by airing a selection of Philadelphia Phantoms hockey games over the air on the station's radio signal and via their audio stream at www.610wip.com.

In addition to the broadcast of the 2004-05 American Hockey League Calder Cup Champions season opener, WIP will air one additional Phantoms broadcast on their radio signal later in the season. All subsequent Phantoms hockey games being broadcast by WIP will be featured on the station's internet audio stream at www.610wip.com. WIP is also the exclusive broadcast rights holder for the Philadelphia 76ers and Philadelphia Flyers.

"WIP has, and always will, focus on the interests of the Philadelphia sports fan. We are able to satisfy their needs by utilizing our internet audio stream to provide listeners a full complement of fresh alternative and innovative programming in addition to our over the air offerings," says WIP's GM/VP Marc Rayfield.

Tim Saunders, the voice of the Flyers, will provide play-by-play commentary for all of WIP's Phantoms hockey broadcasts on its radio signal. Mike Thornton will provide the play-by-play for all internet audio stream broadcasts.

"October 8th will be a big day for the Phantoms", noted Frank Miceli, the club's Chief Operating Officer. "Not only will the team be celebrating the 2005 Calder Cup championship with a banner and ring ceremony, but for the first time in team history fans will be able to tune in the Phantoms on the radio. We could not be more excited about sharing this night and many others to come with the listeners of WIP in Philadelphia, and around the world on-line."
